On July 31, the Port of Lisbon had the honor of receiving ILMA. This reinforces its position as an important destination for luxury cruise ships. This new member of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection made a strategic stop in Lisbon before beginning its first official voyage.

To celebrate this first passage through the city, the Port of Lisbon organized a special ceremony. During this moment, the captain of ILMA was presented with a commemorative plaque in recognition of the occasion.

ILMA construction details and capacity

ILMA was built at the renowned Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France. At 241 meters long and weighing 46,750 tons, the ship has 224 cabins, all equipped with balconies. One of the highlights of this ship is its high crew-to-passenger ratio, with 374 crew members serving up to 448 passengers, ensuring excellent service.

Beyond the comfort of the cabins, ILMA offers a wide range of luxury facilities. Guests can enjoy five restaurants, seven bars, a wine cellar, and various exclusive spaces. Additionally, it includes a marina with mezzanine and The Ritz-Carlton Spa, which features 11 treatment rooms.

The ship also features three distinct fitness areas, a dynamic pool, and an entertainment area on deck, providing a complete and sophisticated experience for its passengers.

The name ILMA, which means “water” in Maltese, reflects the ship’s design and construction, which follow the highest standards of luxury, technical innovation, and craftsmanship.

Sustainability and Innovation

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection reaffirms its commitment to sustainability through the implementation of advanced ecological practices. Equipped with four dual-fuel engines that use liquefied natural gas (LNG) as their primary energy source, the ship has a modular design that allows adaptations for new fuel types in the future.

Additionally, ILMA is equipped with modern energy efficiency technologies and advanced water treatment systems, thus minimizing its environmental impact.

ILMA’s stop in Lisbon not only reaffirmed the city’s importance in the luxury cruise itinerary, but also highlighted the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.

As ILMA prepares for its inaugural voyage, it is clear that this ship represents the pinnacle of luxury and technology in the cruise sector, promising an unparalleled experience for its future passengers.
