{"id":29306,"date":"2017-01-07T11:56:32","date_gmt":"2017-01-07T11:56:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lisbonsightsailing.com\/?p=29306"},"modified":"2025-04-17T16:59:19","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T16:59:19","slug":"lisbon-iberian-american-capital-culture-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wpml.lisbonsightsailing.com\/en\/lisbon-iberian-american-capital-culture-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Lisbon is as of today the Iberian-American Capital of Culture 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Lisbon is since this Saturday until December 22nd, the Ibero-American Capital of Culture 2017, with a program that includes more than 150 activities and in which hundreds of artists from Brazil and Latin America will participate.<\/p>\n\n<p>This is the second time that Lisbon is chosen by the Union of Iberian-American Capitals as Ibero-American Capital of Culture. The first was in 1994, the same year as the European Capital of Culture. The inauguration of the exhibition \u201cAl final del para\u00edso\u201d by the Mexican artist D\u00e9mian Flores is scheduled to open at 5 pm on the Galeria of the Discoveries Monument.<\/p>\n\n<p>  <\/p>\n\n<p>  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-o-dia-da-inauguracao\">The Inauguration Day<\/h2>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>The inauguration, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/wpml.lisbonsightsailing.com\/en\/sights\/discoveries-monument\/\">Discoveries Monument<\/a> gallery, of the exhibition Al final del para\u00edso, by Mexican artist D\u00e9mian Flores, is scheduled for 5pm.<br\/><div id=\"gtx-trans\" style=\"position: absolute; left: 333px; top: -9.50391px;\">&#13;\n<div class=\"gtx-trans-icon\"><\/div><br\/><\/div><\/p>\n\n<p>The opening ceremony, during which a philatelic issue commemorating the initiative will be presented, consisting of four stamps and a block that &#8220;aim to portray cultural and historical aspects of some cities associated with the Ibero-American territory&#8221;, will take place at 7pm at S\u00e3o Luiz Theater.<\/p>\n\n<p>At the same theater, at 9pm, the concert Can\u00e7\u00f5es para uma Festa will bring together the Portuguese Gisela Jo\u00e3o, the Peruvian Mariela Condo, and the Panamanian Yomira John. The show will be repeated on Sunday, also at 9 pm.<\/p>\n\n<p>The opening day of Lisbon Ibero-American Capital of Culture 2017 ends at midnight with the Dan\u00e7as party, in the Winter Garden of the S\u00e3o Luiz Theater, with music by the Portuguese La Flama Blanca and set design by Pedro Valdez Cardoso.<\/p>\n\n<p>The program includes, in addition to exhibitions and concerts, theater plays, guided tours, artistic residencies, film screenings, colloquia, workshops, an urban art festival, dance shows, an oral narration festival and a book fair by photography.<\/p>\n\n<p>The complete program can be seen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lisboacapitaliberoamericana.pt\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All roads lead to Lisbon.
