Developed at the end of the 19th century and extensively modernized throughout the 20th century, it was the city&#8217;s main gateway for goods. Its strategic location, with excellent rail access and depth (draft), made it vital.  <\/p>\n\n<p>This is a <strong>mixed-use<\/strong> infrastructure. It maintains a significant commercial function, housing the Alc\u00e2ntara Container Terminal, which receives medium-sized cargo ships. In parallel, the <strong>Alc\u00e2ntara Recreational Dock<\/strong> offers moorings for pleasure craft, serving as a transition between the commercial area and the Santo Amaro leisure zone (both managed by APL).  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Current Function:<\/strong> Hybrid. Commercial container logistics and a recreational marina, river tourism, and nautical events, with an estimated capacity for around 376 vessels.
